The Juntetsu VG Black is a Japanese VG-10 cutting shear with a hand-honed convex edge, a matte black multi-layer coating, and a symmetric classic handle. It is available in 5.5 and 6.0 inch sizes for right-handed cutting.
The VG Black pairs a dependable premium steel with a stealth matte black finish and a traditional symmetric handle. It is a clean, understated cutting shear for stylists and barbers who want a classic grip and a reliable convex edge.
The finish is a multi-layer matte black coating applied over the steel, engineered to resist chipping and hold its matte look through a long working life. It gives the shear a low-key, professional appearance that hides fingerprints and glare at the chair.
VG-10 is a Japanese high-carbon stainless steel valued for edge retention and corrosion resistance, hardened here to around 60-61 HRC. The hand-honed convex edge moves smoothly through wet or dry hair and holds a crisp point for slice cutting, point cutting and blunt cutting.
Unlike an offset, the symmetric classic handle sets both rings level with each other, a traditional grip many stylists prefer for control in precision and barbering work, with a finger rest to steady longer sessions. The tension adjusts by hand without a key, so you can fine-tune the feel at the chair and reset it whenever it drifts.
The 5.5 inch suits detail and precision work and smaller hands. The 6.0 inch gives more blade for all-round cutting and shear-over-comb.
How do I care for the coated finish?
Wipe the blades clean and dry after each client and add a drop of scissor oil at the pivot regularly. Avoid abrasive cleaners so the matte coating keeps its finish.
